Mashable came out with “2007 In Review: Best of the Best” lists.
One of the categories is “Top Villains In Tech“. Guess who is the first on the list… Live Journal
LiveJournal/Six Apart - LiveJournal, one of the most popular blogging platforms was purchased by Six Apart in 2005, and things seemed to go swimmingly until May of this year when, without warning, they started cracking down on accounts. People woke up to find their journals and communities deleted based solely on interests they had listed, and some of them truly were innocent. One of the most heinous examples was the deletion of a group dedicated to discussing the classic Vladimir Nabokov novel, Lolita, because it was believed to be a group dedicated to child pornography. They reinstated some accounts, just to do another round of pruning in July, angering even more customers. It really isn’t a surprise that Six Apart just sold it off.
