Flock

Firefox is so web 1.0

Actually I like Firefox, I even wrote about 300+ Tools and resources for Firefox and the 15 coolest firefox tips    But I think I have found a new browser:  Flock

Flock is very web 2.0.   You can sign in to your flickr, Twitter, Facebook and even Live journal accounts and then take them with you on a little side bar.   You can blog on your LJ from anywhere – I am doing it right now from the Flock home page.  It has a great RSS reader.   It has a little “web clipboard” that you can drag and drop text, links and images onto to save them for later.

I’m playing with it for the first time right now, but it seems awesome.

So if you want to be the first kid on your block with the cool new toy – get Flock

For you out of towners

Because it can get so nut numbingly cold here in Minneapolis we have these things called Skyways.

They enable you to get almost anywhere downtown without going outside. There is an entire culture built around these Skyways; there are restaurants, shops and vender’s all on the second floor of buildings because of the Skyways. At time when walking through these, seeing all the fancy business people in their suits, then looking down at street level seeing all the “street people” it makes me think of some futuristic movie. One where there are two classes of people, the warm rich ones, and the cold poor ones.

Other times when walking through these packed Skyways it makes me think of when I was a kid and owned hamsters.

On days like today though, when just walking outside makes your nipples hard enough to cut glass, I’ll take the Habitrail anytime.

Winter is here

Remember this screen shot is from 11:00AM – this morning when I went in to work the wind chill was -10

I’ve lived here for 30 years, you’d think I would be used to this shit by now.

I thought we were over this stuff.

A friend of mine was roofied at the Front on Friday. She just started working as a cocktail waitress at the Front (it was her first day.) I saw her around 11 on my way into GZ, she was acting kind of drunk which made me very nervous – I couldn’t figure out why she would have been drinking on her first night.

Later that night she was told to go home because she was too drunk. I drove her home, she was totally out of it on the way to her house. Today I found out she only had diet coke to drink all night. She doesn’t remember anything beyond the first hour or so of the night, she woke up at 4:00 am feeling like shit. She went to the hospital and they drew her blood. They told her she had a high level of a roofie type drug in her system. She was in bed all weekend feeling like she had the flu.

Thank goodness I was there to drive her home, this kind of shit is so scary.

Once again, I know you all know this but still: WATCH YOUR DRINKS

Tonight

I think I’m going down to GZ tonight to check out corrosion.

Couldn’t happen to a nicer guy

Found on Kottke.org

From the past weekend’s box office: the Coen brothers’ No Country For Old Men took in $3.1 million on 148 screens while Tom Cruise’s bombtacular Lions for Lambs took in $2.9 million on 2216 screens. Ouch.

Everyone

Quite the weekend

Friday was Boi’s big birthday part at Ground Zero. Super fun night, really packed with a great mix of people. I thought all the DJ’s were all very good (It was great to hear again.) Although I thought the second one should have been the opener; the minimal electro stuff he was playing wasn’t very dancy and would have worked better as opening background music.

Saturday I went to a Pimp’s and Ho’s party for a bit. The party was ok, but dressing up was very fun. I then went to the club in full pimp wear and danced up on the pedestal in the outfit (and got a $5 tip – whoo.)

Last night I had the night off but still went out to Hard Monday. Very odd being there and not working. I thought it was going to be busier considering it’s only a three day week. Still had fun though.

Right now I’m watching Hulu on my lunch break. They have full episodes of brand new television shows like; Heroes, Family Guy, The Simpson’s, The Office plus old shows like The A Team, Arrested Development and the original Battlestar Galactica – really really cool. I recommend going to sign up for the beta (It took about a week for them to send me my invite)
