Global warming is horrible and all….

But I am digging these new winters we are getting. Almost 50 degrees in January?!?

56 hours of nothing but poker, whew. My company had it’s big state finals this past weekend. We invited the top 600 or so players from our league to a huge tournament at Jackpot Junction where we gave out about $20,000 worth of prizes. What this meant for me was about 3 hours of sleep each night and dealing with geeky poker heads all day every day. It was a very long weekend, but I did win a $100 on a penny slot machine at 4:30 in the morning Saturday night – whoo.

Last night we had a pretty good crowd. The cool part was that there was a ton of new people who I had never seen before. I have a feeling they were under 21 but I’m not sure. Either way it’s good to get new people coming down on Mondays. I really like the new Covenant CD. DJ DV8 premiered the new covenant single Ritual Noise on the 13th. It is a very cool song, I sure it will be a big hit. The rest of the album is also very good. It ranges from very “Covenant like” to some songs which are pretty electro-y. I didn’t announce the songs as I played them last night, but they seemed to get a pretty good response even though people didn’t know what they were. I had planned on playing six songs from the CD but my time was cut short because of the following.

Last night someone had the worst BO I may have ever smelled. I started noticing it around 12:15 or so. At first I would get a whiff of the funk every now and again. I got really worried that it was me. (So I spent a good while trying to smell my own pits all the while trying to look like I’m not smelling my pits.) Then a couple of people came up to the booth and said we should make an announcement about the stinky person. From there it got worse. The funkatude seemed to waif up and stick in the DJ corner. It got so bad I swear my eyes were watering, my nose was burning and I was getting a greasy film of stink all over my body (It felt that way anyway.) If you’ve ever seen the Seinfeld episode about the BO, that’s what it was like. I feel bad for Matthew because at 1:00 I said; good luck man you are on your own. I then bolted from the DJ booth so fast that if I had been wearing a hat it would have been spinning in the air for a few second after I ran away. (I had the early shift anyway, but I felt bad leaving him in the stink pit.) I hung out on the other side of the bar for the rest of the night, it didn’t really smell over there, but when I went onto the dance floor once to check if it was still there… it was. (It did get a bit better towards the end of the night though) We never did figure out exactly who the funk was coming from, I think I narrowed it down to two people, a man and a woman, but I’m not sure which one it was.

I’m back

Way to much poker this weekend. Tonight kicked ass (I played 4 of the new covenant songs tonight – the album is very good if you like covenant.), I’ll try to get a full update later today. Sleep is needed more then you can imagine.

Fun, fun, fun

January 20, 2006

Last night may have been the most fun I’ve had at GZ since I started working Thursdays…. and it wasn’t even that busy. There was just a really good vibe in the place all night, maybe it was the dust in the air from all the construction going on in the entrance.

Music was good, dancefloor stayed pretty full, I ran into some really good people, there were naked people everywhere – good times.

Now I have to head to Jackpot Junction to help run our state finals. 700 people playing Texas Hold Em for a couple of days, should be interesting.

Web person wanted

January 18, 2006

I know a lot of you people are savvy web people. My company is getting raped by a crooked web master. We are looking for a new person to help us out with our web site(s) I know basic HTML and can do some of the basic stuff, but there is some back end things that I can’t do.

If anyone is looking for some extra side work please let me know.

email me at cboyte@gmail.com

This would be a few hours a week for a while, but depending on how big we grow it could end up as a full time job down the road.

If you want to take a look at our sites they are:

www.theworldpokerstore.com

www.thebarpokerleague.com

Most of the work would probably be on the bar poker league site.

We have a much better turnout then I expected last night at HM. I figured with the snow we would hardly have anyone, what a pleasant surprise. Time went really fast all night, but I never could quite seem to get my finger on the pulse of the crowd the last hour. Oh well, these things happen it was still a good night. I’m not even that tired today – whoo!

Sunday I saw Triple Espresso. Very funny show. If you are looking for a entertaining, not very deep, light and fun show, I highly recomend it.

January 10, 2006

I’m back from Breckenridge and I now know that I like skiing. This weekend was so fun. Saturday was a picture perfect clear day, you could see for miles around (Holy fuck are the Rockies beautiful.) Colorado has had over 10 feet of snow this year so the skiing was fantastic. Then Sunday there it was snowing all day, so I got to ski in fresh powder all day. Who knew that I was a skier. Of course if I actually had to pay for all of it, I may feel very different about it. Overall I would say the weekend rated a 10 out of 10 on the fun scale.

But now I am one big giant sore *edit* muscle. I am sore in places I didn’t even know existed.

Then last night we had a great turnout. I don’t know what it was, but there were tons of people out at HM – yay. But I am so fricking tired now, that between the soreness and the tiredness I am just barley hanging on. I am seriously thinking about crawling under my desk and taking a nap. (I’m the only one in the office right now.)

Notice the nice shade of yellow that almost encompass my whole forearm.

It’s been a while since I’ve posted. Mostly because I’ve been to sick to do much of anything. Last Saturday was fantastic, I hoped for a few more people, but it still was super, super fun. I still have a very good sized bite mark on my arm, but otherwise the night went perfect.

Monday was slow, but that was to be expected and I still had a lot of fun that night.

Tonight DJ Noise will be filling in for me at GZ as I am off to break my body skiing. My mom and step dad’s Christmas present is to take us here. As I have only really been skiing once in my life (last spring) so I’m sure I will come back in a body cast. But I bet it will be fun.

Have a great weekend everyone, I’lI should be at Hard Monday cast or no cast.
