So tonight wasn’t what I thought it would be. I wasn’t solo…. I didn’t have much freedom… It was VERY frustrating. Chuck was very worried about what Mark would say, and kept a very tight leash on us.

I think Thursdays will be better in the future, I had a long talk with Mark at the end of the night. He didn’t know me from Adam, now he does. I think (hope) that may make a difference.

Now I have to sleep for an hour to get up to go to the airport, is this going to suck.

See you all in a week.

Quick little drive by post. I saw that you can get free cover before 10:45 to ground zero tonight by cutting out the ad in city pages. (I don’t know if the online version will work.

September 28, 2005

So this weekend was supposed to be a fun event. I was to fly to Atlanta on Friday spend Saturday at my Grandmother Janet’s 90th birthday, and spend some time with my sister who I haven’t seen in forever, then fly home Sunday.

Unfortunately my other grandmother had a hart attack last week. So I will drive to North Carolina on Sunday and spend a few days with her. She was also going through Ce-mo at the time, so she is really not doing well, I’m sure this will be the last time I see her or my grandfather. (He is just hanging on waiting for her.)

So I will work all day tomorrow (I’m working in a Halloween store again this October) then pack, then go spin my first solo night at GZ. Come home, get two hours of sleep, leave for the airport at 5 AM and I won’t be back until next Wednesday.

Have a great weekend everyone.

This is funny

(stolen from )

It’s official!

September 24, 2005

I am now the DJ for Thursday nights at Ground Zero. (Chuck asked me yesterday, but I wanted to find out if he was serious before I said anything.)

I will always do the same thing I always have. (What does that mean you ask?)

That means I will play to the crowd, take requests and try to put on a good show.

If management, or ownership, doesn’t like it I really don’t care… I’m not doing this for money or fame. (ha ha… like anyone at GZ could get fame – more power to Panic for getting some)

I’m attacking this as a night as a night for me to have fun and do what I do best. I will try my hardest to make sure everyone who comes out is having fun, but if it doesn’t work out I’m not going to stress out about it.

I hope I can make Thursdays a good, fun night to come out and dance, if that doesn’t happen… oh well, I’m no worse off then I was yesterday.

The “new format” was way overblown. It is different, but not drastically. Thursdays will now sound less like Fridays and more like Saturdays.

On the plus side they did some really cool stuff on stage and there was a Theme. I also think Mistress Jean is back on Thursdays. (She was last night anyway.)

September 22, 2005

The storm knocked out my power last night… boy did that suck. I will be spinning with Chuck tonight, Mark (the owner) has some new fangled ideas about the format. We shall see what happens.

September 21, 2005

I’ve watched some of the new shows and season premieres over the last few nights.

Here are my grades:
Simpsons – It was ok, nothing great. I was kind of disappointed in their premiere.
Family Guy – Fantastic! I think this is my favorite show on TV right now. (this or the Daily Show)
American Dad – pretty good, not as good as the family guy, but still better then most TV out there.
Arrested Development – very good, clever writing. I haven’t watched this show much, but I think I will be watching more.
Kitchen Confidential – I liked it, this show definitely has potential. I was switching back and forth between this and How I Met Your Mother. Halfway into them I could tell this one was clearly better.
How I Met Your Mother – Disappointing. I was hoping that Doogie and Willow could make a good comedy, but the writing was very poor and the laugh track was horrible.
Two and a half men – boring. I thought this show was ok last year, the season premier did nothing for me. Big thumbs down this year.
Out Of Practice – It was watchable. It was the best comedy in the CBS line up last night, but that is not saying much.
My Name Is Earl – Thumbs up – I thought Jason Lee was funny. I’m noticing all of the comedies I really like don’t have laugh tracks or studio audiences.
The Office – Great! I know everyone says it’s not as good as the British version, but I’ve never seen that version and I like this one so I don’t care.

Fair turnout

September 20, 2005

I was very disappointed about the turnout tonight at first, but it really picked up late.

Thank you to everyone who came out. We raised over $300 for the hurricane victims (not great, but not bad.) DJ Overdrive had a great set, thank you Chuck. Personally, I had a great time just being there. I thought the music was very good and I had a ton of fun.

Thanks again everyone, I will try and get a playlist up this week…. But I said the same thing last week and there was nothing, so you never know.

PS It was a GREAT looking crowd tonight! Holy smoke was there a ton of hot looking people out.

New Orleans Fund raiser and Hard Monday’s 9th anniversary.

September 15, 2005

We have come to the 9th year of Hard Mondays. (wow) To celebrate this fact we are going to do something good. We are having a fund raiser for New Orleans. This means that this coming Monday there will be an optional $2 (or more if you feel like it) cover charge and all of that money will be going to charities to help the people of New Orleans.

But we aren’t stopping there. We will also have DJ Overdrive, some may know him as Chuck the manager and Thursday night DJ at Ground Zero, spinning a guest set that night. And if that wasn’t enough we will also have 2-4-1’s from 10-12 on domestic beers and well drinks.

So bring everyone you know, and even some people you don’t know.

When: This Monday September 19th, 10 PM – 2 AM
Where: The Saloon, 9th and Hennepin Downtown Minneapolis
How Much: Free ($2 or more optional cover – all money from cover will go to New Orleans survivors.)
Who: 18+
