Weekends are a lot less fun when you don’t have any cash. Today was pretty fucking boring.
Anyone else try these new Marlboro 72’s? I bought some because they were two packs for the price of one. But they are so little, I feel like the whole smoke is gone after two drags.
Here is my list of 10 things I’ve done that I don’t think any of my LJ friends have done.
10. Drunkenly walked up to Kevin Costner, put my arm around him and told him “I love your work” (even though I really can’t stand the guy’s work.)
9. DJ’ed on stage with Bobby brown. I played instrumentals while he free style rapped for about a half hour.
8. I have been less then 4 feet from a wild Hyena while she nursed her pups. (I have video of this.), less then 10 feet from a wild Impala (That’s the pic I took to prove it.), and about 20 feet from a wild elephant (Pic I took from a car)
7. I have been stabbed in the chest by a bum on the U of M campus
6. I attended at a party were numerous Viking players were using a giant plastic candy cane as a pipe and were smoking weed out of it.
5. Danced at a Irish folk music festive on a castle courtyard at 2AM and it was still light out.
4. I was DJing a party in North Mpls where a group of people burst in with guns and robbed the place.
3. I was less then 40 yards away from the starting line when Michael Johnson won 200 Meters and broke the world record at the 96 Olympics
2. I have had weddings in two separate states, neither one being MN.
1. Been inside the Blue Grotto on the isle of Capri

This feels so good. I was up against all the DJ’s from Spin and Escape and Quest and all the other big sucky clubs. And I fucking won, I really am tripping out right now. I know I’m not the best DJ in town, but I’ve always thought I’m the most diverse DJ in town. I don’t know of any other DJ who has done a top 40 night, a electronica night and a darksider night all in the same week.
WOW….. YAY….
I’ve been a professional DJ for 15+ years. For at least 12 of those years that’s all I did. The problem was, that back then being a DJ wasn’t that big of a deal. It’s only been in the last 3-5 years that all of a sudden being a DJ is the thing to be. There are fucking McDonalds and Car commercials that have DJ’s in them for fucks sake.
I know I’m rambling… but thank you everyone who voted for me. All of you fucking rock.

Tonight is the awards for the DJ contest. At first I wasn’t planning on going, but what the fuck, I may as well. So tonight I guess it will be Bar-Fly for me.
Last night was weird. It started off really slow. Which was expected, we always have an off night the week after a big night. But the crowd was very dancy, which was good, and they were dancing to very good music (IMO). We hardly had any requests, which is really weird. Lately the last two hours of the night have been almost exclusively requests, but last night I would say only 3 or 4 people asked for anything all night.
At about 12:30ish it got really busy, the bar around Lexi went from dead to suddenly she was running her ass off. When I left at 1:00 (I had the early shift last night) the dancefloor was packed and the bar was full. Maybe everyone was over playing pool or something. They did close the other side a bit early last night.
The kids (18-20) are definitely adding a different feel to the night and there are starting to be more and more of them. They dance to different music, they request different music, they give off a different vibe then the old farts (Like me). It’s weird to think that when these 18 year old’s were 3, I was 18. AHHH – fuck I’m old. But they add energy to the night, and it’s good that we are training them, expanding their music selections beyond Manson and Crueshadows (sp?).
I saw one poor newbie girl who was in the men’s bathroom with a terrified look on her face. I think the poor girl didn’t know that there are bathrooms that don’t have Urinals. When I entered she bolted out before I could tell her about the bathrooms that would be a little better for her. Hopefully one of her friends told her about the other bathrooms after she told them about her experience. The kids are filling the room. We have had consistently good nights for quite a while now, and that is a very good thing. I think the raver kids that we had for a while are now dressing in black and not bringing their glow sticks…lol They’re learning.
Well I should get off the crack for a while and get to work.

Life sucks when you are in pain. I honestly don’t know how people who get migraine’s do it…. I really don’t.
Yay – Almost done with work and I need to be typing something so it seems like I’m doing something the last 5-10 Min I’m here. Looks like tonight will be fairly mellow. Cocktails at home and watch Monk.
Tomorrow put us on the list for the KCK, we will try and make it out there.
Money sucks! Of course everyone says if you have tons of it, it won’t make you happy. That may be true, but if you don’t have any THAT certainly doesn’t make you happy.
I can’t bitch though, it’s not like I’m super poor or anything. I just don’t have money to go out… and I want to go out. *man am I a whinny bitch today*…
I think that’s enough typing, I can go home now – and it’s Friday! Whoo..
